The Village of Whitehouse, Ohio, a strong community of 4,200 located in Lucas County, is accepting applications for the full time Police Chief position until Friday, January 27, 2012 at 5:00 pm. The Village is seeking a candidate that understands the importance of and is committed to working with all Village departments toward the overall Village good. The successful candidate must prove an aptitude for: effective community policing, personnel management, and budget and grant administration within the department. Above all, the Village seeks a leader with character and commitment to providing premium services to the Village. The candidate must also be a knowledgeable, law enforcement professional with expertise in effective policing practices, current training methods, and crime prevention techniques. Further, the candidate should show an ability to anticipate future criminal threats as it relates to the Village. An Ohio Peace Officer’s Certificate is required and a Bachelor’s Degree in Law Enforcement is preferred. The salary range is from $46,734 to $66,438 and the Village offers excellent fringe benefits. Candidates should have a minimum of ten (10) years of law enforcement experience and at least five (5) years of senior level supervisory experience. The Whitehouse Police Department strives to enhance the quality of life in the Village by providing a safe environment in which to live, work and play. The Department consists of nine full time officers, seven part-time officers, and a civilian clerk/office assistant. Full time dispatching services are provided by the Lucas County Sheriff's Department by calling 419-213-4977 (dial 9-1-1 in any emergency situation).
The Village of Whitehouse is under the jurisdiction of the Maumee Municipal Court. All cases involving adults are filed at the Maumee Municipal Court located at 400 Conant Street, Maumee, and all incidents involving juveniles are filed at the Lucas County Juvenile Court, 1801 Spielbusch Avenue in Toledo.
