Whitehouse Winterfest, the coolest event this winter!  The second annual Winterfest and Snowy Night Light Parade will be held on February 11, 2012.  Events will include cardboard sled races, snow man building contest, snowball throwing contest, Toledo Roadrunners 5-k race, light parade, and more.  Click here for Rules and Registration Forms for the various events.  If you have additional questions, please contact us at 419-877-5383.  

Art Classes and Workshops sponsored by WAAB.  The Whitehouse Arts Advisory Board (WAAB) is excited to announce a new series of classes/workshops for 2012.   All classes are open to the public!  Class size is limited, so register early.
 
Monday, February 27, 2012 – 6:00 - 8:00 pm.  Fuzed Glass Pendants.  Ann Hymel will teach how to create jewelry that gets noticed!  Learn how to use glass to custom design a pendant, necklace, or pin for every outfit.  All safety equipment, tools, supplies, firing and guided instructions are included to create 3 to 5 pieces.  Cost is $38 per person.

Tuesday, March 20, 2012 – 6:00 – 8:00 pm.   Needle Felted Scarf.  Conny Beard will teach the art of needle felting.  Each participant will make a beautiful silk scarf embellished with wool roving, locks and glitz.  $48 per person includes all materials and supplies to make one scarf.

Monday, April 23, 2012 – 6:00 – 9:00 pm.  Acrylic painting class.  Brenda Clixby teaches this three hour class, and each participant will take home a finished piece of art, ready to hang.  Easels, stools and all supplies will be furnished to complete the 16” by 20” canvas painting.  Cost is $40 per person.  This class is perfect for the person who thinks they can’t draw or paint!

Ash Tree Removal Grant Funds Available.  Whitehouse residents can apply for a grant to pay for 40% cost share assistance from WSOS Community Action Commission, Inc. for tree removal.  Click here for additional information and an Application to apply for grant funds. 
Fishing Allowed!  - The Village Council in conjunction with the Toledo Area Metroparks has opened the large quarry at the Blue Creek Conservation Area to allow public fishing and nature walks.  REMEMBER: At the current time fishing is allowed from the edge only. NO ICE FISHING, BOATING OR SWIMMING IS ALLOWED State of Ohio fishing licenses ARE REQUIRED for anyone 16 years of age and older and can be obtained locally at the General Pro Hardware Store located in downtown Whitehouse (419-877-0461). 
Utility Line Protection Plan Available to Whitehouse residents.   The Village of Whitehouse is notifying residents of a program provided through a partnership between the National League of Cities (NLC) and Service Line Warranties of America (SLWA). This program offers a warranty available to homeowners for repairs on the outside water line that runs from the utility connection to the home. SLWA was selected by the NLC as an Enterprise Programs Partner. After a decade in business, SLWA has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. The National League of Cities, representing over 218 million Americans, is the nation’s oldest and largest organization devoted to strengthening and promoting cities as centers of opportunity, leadership and governance. Memorial Tree Planting Program is designed to give area residents the opportunity to create a lasting memorial by donating trees in memory of relatives and friends or in honor of a commemorative occasion.  Click here for additional information, cost, and location.
Village refuse roll-carts are available!  Village Council authorized the purchase of 96-gallon roll carts to be used by Village residents for refuse collection.  These carts are durable, clean, and easy to use and will assure that animals don't get into your trash!  Stop by Village Hall to purchase your cart for $67.25 (our cost).  We'll deliver it free of charge and you can start using it immediately!
